The Serenity Withdrawal Unit is a partnership initiative between Cyrenian House and DAWN. Based on the Serenity Lodge site in Rockingham, it offers low medical detox to consumers. It is a valuable addition to the range of services provided by Cyrenian House and the AOD sector in WA.
Cyrenian House is a not-for-profit non-government organisation that has been operating within the
alcohol and other drug treatment sector since 1981. Cyrenian House services include two Therapeutic Communities, a residential Women and Children’s Program, a purpose built Childcare Centre, an Integrated Community Alcohol and Drug Service, a regional AOD service in partnership with Milliya Rumurra (CHMR), non-residential services for individuals and families and counselling and support services in a number of metropolitan prisons and the Serenity Withdrawal Unit.
The Drug and Alcohol Withdrawal Network (DAWN) is a free professional and confidential service
for consumers wishing to reduce or cease their substance use in their home environment. This service operates across the Perth Metropolitan area. We believe that sustained change is possible and an ongoing process and that withdrawal is a step in this process.
DAWN is a St John of God Healthcare Social Outreach program and embraces the core values of:
- Justice, and Excellence.
DAWN provides the medical support for the Serenity Withdrawal Unit.

How to Access the Service
To ensure that this service is the best match for consumers, it is important that we carefully assess individual’s treatment needs. People can refer themselves directly to the service through DAWN. Other services, such as Community Alcohol and Drug Services, mental health, general practitioners, child protection and corrective services can also make referrals by contacting DAWN. For consumers who are already engaged with the Residential Pathways Team at Cyrenian House, workers there will assist with the referral for assessment with DAWN.
